Medical Records, Admissions & Inventory Assistant

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

The purpose of this position is to assist in maintaining Medical Records, Inventory control processes/procedures and to provide support with special projects as well as the coordination of workflow throughout the building in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards. To follow all guidelines and regulations of Birchaven Village policies and procedures, ethical statement and resident rights.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Duty 1: Demonstrates knowledge and skill to properly code all diagnosis records, and ensures that Medicare certifications are sent in a timely manner an in accordance with applicable laws

Duty 2: Maintains electronic health records in accordance with AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association.)

Duty 3: Responsible for ensuring privacy of patient record and generating a paper record. Ensure safeguarding of medical records in accordance with HIPPA guidelines.

Duty 4: Displays service excellence as evidenced by practicing the mission, vision, and values of the organization to promote resident satisfaction.

Duty 5: Complies with organizational policies, procedures, and practices to ensure quality job performance and regulatory compliance.

Duty 6: Assists with inventory control as back up assistant to help deliver, stock and maintain inventory control in the absence of Inventory Control Coordinator

Duty 7: Responsible for completing all admission paperwork with all new residents/families and appropriate contacts.

Duty 8: Responsible for completing exit interview with all discharging rehabilitation residents.

Duty 9: Maintains and tracks multiple admission logs within the admission process.

Duty 10: Assists with tours/inquiries throughout the building as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent training; or up to one-year related experience or training; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to manage the budgetary process in relation to inventory control processes and procedures.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires a full range of body motions with intermittent walking, lifting of up to 50 lbs, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and standing. The associate may be required to walk for up to one hour a day, sit for six to eight hours a day and stand for one hour a day. The individual must have excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks. The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range.
