Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Corporate Health and Safety Manager is responsible for analyzing, identifying, and measuring workplace hazards or stresses that can cause sickness, impaired health, or significant discomfort in employees through chemical, physical, ergonomic, or biological exposures. They are responsible for making sure that employees follow health and safety laws and creating policies for a safer work environment for all U.S. locations.

The Corporate Health & Safety Manager takes measures to identify potential workplace hazards and improve existing conditions. The Corporate Health & Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that quality training and best safety practices are in place for a safe and effective workplace.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as assigned.

  • Creates and implements workplace health and safety plans and procedures for all US Locations for Heilind, DB Roberts and Heilind Mil-Aero.
  • Evaluates health and safety practice and procedures for risk assessment and following legal guidelines and OSHA guidelines.
  • Conducts accident prevention training and health and safety training.
  • Inspects facility and equipment to identify safety, health, and related environmental risks.
  • Monitors employee conformity to safety laws and policies.
  • Investigates accidents and incidents to find cause and take prevention measures for further incidents.
  • Suggests solutions, improvements, and prevention steps for safety issues.
  • Advises and leads employees on various safety-related topics.
  • Prepares educational seminars and webinars on a regular basis, including emergency procedures, workplace safety and other relevant topics.
  • Ensures that all safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  • Reviews existing policies and procedures.
  • Works with HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safety.
  • Conducts risk assessment including PPE assessments and routine inspections.
  • Enforces preventative measures.
  • Recruits and train safety committee team members.
  • Prepares and presents reports on accidents and violations and determine causes.
  • Oversees workplace repair, installations and any other work that could harm employees' safety.
  • Protects company's value by keeping employee's health information confidential.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals.
  • Point of contact for all safety concerns, including OSHA, safety surveys etc.
  • Must be able to travel.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Organizational Training and Development, or related field (essential). Master's degree desirable.
  • Five years of related experience preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in training and development management (essential)
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution
    Experience in formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • Warehouse and assembly room safety experience a plus.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • To perform the position, you much be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR. ITAR defines a US Person as a US Citizen, US Permanent Resident (I.e., 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • Must be able to report to assigned office location during scheduled in-office workdays.
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills: Communicate clear objectives, provide feedback, and suggest improvement for individual performance, coaches.
  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Exceptional organizational, management, planning, and executing and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience analyzing company needs, lesson planning, development, and implementation.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive written reports and correspondences, represent ideas clearly and concisely, and make presentations.
  • The ability to make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Needs to have integrity and be honest in all dealings.
  • Ability to research information and analyze data to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations, and plans of action.
  • Ability to meet or exceed the company's attendance and punctuality standard.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (technical writing skills required)
  • Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects.
  • Reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and customers. Must be physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers (paperwork, typing, using mouse/keyboard). The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Must possess mobility to work in a standard warehouse setting and work with and around a variety of equipment, parts, and inventory, operate a motor vehicle and forklift (if position requires); strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium physical work; Specific vision abilities required by this job include close visual acuity to perform activities such as: inspecting manufactured parts (with and without magnification), preparing/analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and ability to distinguish colors and color variation of physical parts and components, and in documentation such as work instructions and engineering drawings. Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator. Positions in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb to perform work. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds and heavier weights with the proper equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • This position is exposed to large moving equipment, including motorized pallet jacks, forklifts, lift trucks, and conveyor belts.
  • May occasionally be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
