Basic Job Functions:

The role of the Rail Lead position consists of, but is not limited to, leading the team to work safe, and is expected to participate in and promote an atmosphere of cooperation and teamwork. Candidates must be able to encourage and inspire operational and commercial excellence while fully supporting our goal of continually improving safety, environmental efforts, quality, costs, productivity, and profitability. Responsibilities include the coordination associated with the direct movement of railcars and locomotives, scrap and alloy receiving, coordination of port/barge loading operations, cross training in jobs within department and fill-in as needed. Communication with railroads on daily decisions for car placement and railcar storage as well as onsite campus partners. Additional responsibilities include communicating and coordinating between the melt shop, shipping and cold mill groups and on-site contractors while overseeing improvement & repair projects for the department, ensuring monitoring of scrap for radiation, and performing lock out tag out on Nucor railroad. Must be able to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays and in adverse conditions.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years steel manufacturing experience
• General understanding of day-to-day rail operation and shipping process in a steel manufacturing environment
• Willingness to work overtime and rotating shifts while outdoors in extreme weather conditions
• Demonstrated leadership in operations, logistics, or maintenance in manufacturing
