Occupational Therapist - Per Diem

PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION:
The primary purpose of your job is to plan, organize, develop, and administrate occupational therapy services in accordance with current applicable Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines and regulations and established policies and procedures as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality care and safety can be maintained.

DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY:
As the occupational therapist, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Evaluates each patient, establishes treatment plan and goals in cooperation with referring physician and patient.
Directly administers this treatment to patient or supervises treatment by department personnel.
Reviews department policies, procedures, manuals, job descriptions, etc., at least annually.
Maintains treatment records and progress notes as required.
Represents the facility and participates in meetings as directed.
Ensure Rehab. Receptionist receives charges for occupational therapy rendered to patients.
Attends and participates in workshops, seminars, etc. to keep abreast of current changes in the healthcare field as well as to maintain professional status.
Able to evaluate and treat all age groups include pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.
Assumes supervision responsibilities as delegated by Rehab manager.
Maintains patient confidentially and patient rights at all times.
Is alert for patient safety at all times.
Continually monitors the condition of equipment.
Communicates patient status, goals and treatment plan with other relevant disciplines and staff members.
Demonstrates competence in basic knowledge and direct clinical skills.
Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assume additional responsibilities.

Evaluates for age-appropriate behavior motor skills and physiological norms of the above identified patients.
Recognizes patients' psychological development and modifies approaches for the above identified patients.
Recognizes potential lifestyle changes resulting from illness that will interfere with the discharge plan and develops plan accordingly
Identifies increased physical/emotional dependency needs and evaluates availability of support system for the above defined patients.
Interview/communication techniques are age-appropriate.
Assesses patients for signs and symptoms of abuse/neglect and refers to appropriate personnel and/or community agency.

Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Occupational Therapy Massachusetts license

EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of two (2) years experience, will consider new graduates
