This position performs the essential role of providing legal assistance to the agency attorneys providing legal support to the social services programs. This position will provide legal assistance to the agency attorneys who provide policy advice to those social services administrations and who represent the agency in administrative appeal proceedings. This assistance will include drafting court pleadings, preparing other legal documents, basic legal research, and gathering and reviewing information for attorneys, including interviewing witnesses. This paralegal will help coordinate hearing attendance and will be responsible for ensuring all the necessary paperwork has been provided to the agency attorney and filed. This position may be responsible for developing and maintaining a tracking system for the receipt of documents necessary for hearings, the filing of the necessary documents, hearing dates and attendance at those hearings. This will include coordinating attorney calendars and drafting motions to continue, when needed. This paralegal may assist with reviewing public records requests; drafting and responding to discovery; drafting regulations; writing appellate briefs; and summarizing case documents.

Hiring rate: $21.10 -$31.10 commensurate with education and/or experience, if approved.

REQUIREMENTS: Associates degree in paralegal studies from an ABA approved program at an accredited college or successful completion of a program at an American Bar Association approved paralegal institute. Experience may be substituted for education.

PREFERRED: Working knowledge/experience with electronic filing of court documents, and proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe.
