Stark Neurosciences Research Institute's research is not only reflected across departments at IU School of Medicine, but at several universities and institutions.
Job Summary
- Manages front desk coverage and handles incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
- Assists with the management of core equipment, Core Lab/Shared Space facilities, and services essential to the function of everyday activities within the Neurosciences Research Building (NB) and Biotechnology and Research Training Center (BRTC).
- Maintains and cleans core equipment within the Neuroscience Research Building, plus problem-solve and repair as needed.
- Maintains Core Lab/Shared space facilities, CO2 incubators, Biological Safety Cabinets, Laminar Flow Hoods, bench and floor model centrifuges, water baths, autoclaves, dish washers, water filtration systems, autoclaving hazardous trash, glassware and liquids, defrosting -80 and -20 degree freezers, preparing common lab reagents, and monitoring/inventorying core lab supply levels.
- Participates in the disposal of biological, radioactive waste. Maintain regulatory aspects and paperwork (Biosafety, Laboratory Safety, Radiation Safety, IACUC, IRB ).
- Performs general laboratory management duties including ordering lab supplies, maintaining inventory and other stocked supplies, mail and package delivery.
- Manages the movement and relocation of sensitive equipment, as needed; Moves and changes out CO2 tanks and other compressed air tanks;
- Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
QualificationsEDUCATION
Required- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required- 1 year of relevant work experience.

Working Conditions / DemandsThis role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Equipment utilized: Autoclave, dishwasher, water filtrations systems, CO2 incubators, centrifuges, biological safety cabinets, basic computers (Microsoft windows).
