Peer Mentor (Grant-based positions)

MOTLOW STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

is accepting applications for the following positions:

 

Peer Mentor - Grant Specific

Multiple Openings, Multiple Campuses

 

Peer Tutors will report to the Cohort Support Specialist.

Pay is competitive with other temporary, part-time wages at Motlow State Community College and is funded through a grant. Motlow is seeking multiple Peer Tutors to support students on various campuses.

 

Positions are open to:

·         2nd year students

·         Pay rate $12/hour

·         Needed at all campuses

Students will be responsible for duties including but not limited to:

o   Assisting Peers in the FYE course to:

o   Retain and implement proper time management skills

o   Assist with assignment completion and submission

o   Direct students to additional campus and learning support resources such as the Math Lab, Writing Center, and Library

 

Special Notes:

·         Students are eligible for these positions;

·         Please list highest level of education in application (high school is an acceptable response);

·         Please ask individuals before listing them as a reference;

o   Information about extracurricular activities (other jobs, athletics, clubs, or volunteer activities)

o   A paragraph or two about why you want to be a peer tutor/mentor

o   Explanation of previous tutoring or classroom/instruction/training experience (if any)

o   Description of a time you provided one-on-one assistance to help an individual reach a goal

Applicants will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis but proficiency in subject matter will be a minimum requirement for tutors.
