Summary:
Procures laboratory test samples from patients and normal donors for clinical and research testing purposes; performs phlebotomy using venipuncture, butterfly and micro-sampling techniques at patient bedside or in RPCI approved outpatient location(s); processes proper patient registration and handling of laboratory orders for specimen acquisition within appropriate Hospital and Laboratory Information Systems.

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience

1. Associate's degree and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in performing phlebotomy and collection techniques; or
2. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and successful completion of an approved Phlebotomy certificate program.
3. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time experience performing phlebotomy and collection techniques.

NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualification:
The preferred candidate will have completed a Phlebotomy Certificate Program
Phlebotomy Experience in a Hospital/Oncology Setting. In addition they will also have excellent customer service skills both verbal and written and the ability to work with a diverse population.
