General Summary/Overview: Greet and register patients for appointments. Answer all telephone calls directed to the reception area. Perform laboratory specimen collection according to established policy and procedures. Maintain the department in good order to function effectively.

Essential Functions:
1. Answer telephones promptly and courteously, using the Pentucket standard 3-part greeting.
2. Transfer, conference and park calls as appropriate.
3. Route calls according to department protocol.
4. Greet patients in a professional manner.
5. Access, understand and accurately make appointments using the scheduling screens.
6. Oversee waiting are and ensure that all patients are checked in.
7. Perform laboratory specimen collection in accordance with company policy and procedures.
8. Perform EKG's as ordered.
9. Perform finger and heel sticks on small children and infants.
10. Perform pulmonary function tests.
11. Dispose of medical waste according to established guidelines and regulations.
12. Maintain the phlebotomy department in a clean and organized manner.
13. Cover other locations within Pentucket Medical when directed by your supervisor.
14. Attend required meetings.
15. Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
16. Maintain patient confidentiality.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education/Experience:
• A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
• Certification in Phlebotomy
• A minimum of 1 years of experience as a Phlebotomist.
• Experience with EKG's and pulmonary function testing helpful.
• Excellent Customer Service experience.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Excellent customer service skills

Physical Demands: Requires prolonged standing, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to perform blood tests, operate a keyboard, photocopier, and telephone. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate messages and reports. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

Environmental/Working Conditions: Work is performed in a fast-paced laboratory. There is constant contact with the public, clinic and office support staff. Work may be stressful at times because of high volume.
