SUMMARY
The Physical Therapist TP* provides physical therapy and wellness services to patients and clients who have impairments, functional disabilities or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes. Moreover, this employee helps patients and clients restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities. The Physical Therapist TP* collaborates with healthcare teams that include physicians, occupational therapists, and psychologists.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
- Evaluates news patients, establishes goals, and develops appropriate treatment plans.
- Documents all evaluations, treatments, and other pertinent patient interactions on a daily basis.
- Educates patients and families regarding medical conditions and provides instructions for home activities.
- Communicates with physicians and their staff to obtain necessary information and suggests revisions in treatment.
- Utilizes treatment tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Maintains a satisfactory level of productivity and demonstrates willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of crisis or real clinic need.
- Participates in quality and safety improvement activities.
- Orients, instructs, and directs work activities for assistants and support personnel.
- Utilizes appropriate methods and materials for learning programs, monitors effectiveness, and adapts programs accordingly.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUMDepartment Specific FunctionsThe Department of Physical Therapy is looking to hire a Physical Therapist I for the limited funded Department of Defense (DoD) grant. The Research Physical Therapist is responsible for clinical support and data collection for all study subjects' appointments. This position is a restricted position and is contingent upon grant funding for continuing employment.
The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the following responsibilities:
- Assist with planning and coordination of research study activities
- Communicates with physicians, physical therapists and community members to recruit subjects
- Participates in quality and safety improvement activities
- Determine and implement policies and procedures pertaining to the research activities
- Coordinate and assist with data collection
