Range: $40,000- $50,000

Position Summary:

A postdoctoral opportunity is available at Clarkson University in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, under the direction of Professor Chunlei Liang in the area of three-dimensional modeling of solar dynamo.
Desirable skills and knowledge include some of,

  • Fortran/C Programming,
  • Magnetohydrodynamoics,
  • Solar Physics,
  • Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations,
  • Reduced-Order Modeling,
  • Tecplot/IDL visualization.

A prior subset of these skills are expected and the rest we will study and build as we go. A PhD in mathematics, physics, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, computer science or related is expected. The post-doctoral candidate is expected to become a vibrant member of our lively CHORUS-MHD research group, advance his/her own skills and cooperate with other students in advancing their skills and enjoyment along with the underlying science. General Purpose: To conduct research in reduced-order modeling 3D solar dynamo and to collaborate with the existing efforts in 3D simulations of solar dynamo.

Position Responsibilities: The candidate will be expected to construct reduced-order models for studying the solar sunspot cycles.
