EMD Serono is seeking a highly motivated, experienced scientist to join the Discovery Biology Group within Research Unit (RU) Neuroscience and Immunology at our research facility in Billerica, Massachusetts. Our pipeline includes both small and large molecules ranging from target identification to clinical development in neurological and autoimmune diseases. This role requires an excellent knowledge of Neuro-Immunology, immune tolerance and associated diseases. A collaborative spirit, and a deep knowledge of the drug discovery and development process from target inception to translational research is required. In this role you will propose and evaluate novel targets and lead cross-functional discovery project teams in a matrixed organization. You will lead a lab and a team of scientists and is responsible for in-vitro evaluation of preclinical drug candidates and understanding of their mechanism of action utilizing state of the art technologies like e.g. single cell RNA sequencing. Your role requires strong leadership beyond your direct reporting line to ensure effective collaboration across different functions. You will communicate effectively across the global organization and external partners, present your work to senior management, and publish in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Who you are:

Minimum Requirements Master's degree with 7 years of experience, or PHD 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and a track record of scientific PublicationsStrong knowledge of Immunology and/or NeuroscienceHands-on experience with biochemical and/or cellular techniques relevant to field of expertise Preferred RequirementsExpert in state-of-the-art technologies and hands on experience including single cell RNA sequencing Analytical and structured, creative and energetic, proactive with team spirit. Capable of teaching relevant techniques to team membersExcellent English skills, both in oral and written communicationsExperience with leading functional groups and cross-functional teams
