Meta's Privacy Engineering organization is seeking an engineer focused on privacy safeguards in our products. You will identify privacy risks in architecture and code, recommend remediation options, and verify the finished product matches the commitment. Your technical advocacy for sound privacy decisions will ensure Meta users' data is only used for purposes they have authorized. You will be relied upon to provide engineering and product teams with the privacy expertise necessary to make confident product decisions.
Privacy Engineer Intern Responsibilities:
- Play a key role in driving technical reviews of products and features to identify privacy concerns
- Work closely with technical and non-technical teams to recommend and verify architectural and code remediation options
- Provide product teams with guidance and best practices to help protect users' privacy and mitigate risks
- Build and improve internal tooling to enhance team capabilities
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field
- Experience with Python, PHP, Java, C/C++ or an equivalent language
- Experience or relevant coursework in cybersecurity or privacy (e.g., penetration testing, security code reviews, data access controls)
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest in protecting people's privacy
- Experience translating technical concepts into language that is understood by software engineers as well as business and technical leaders
- Experience with web application security and privacy vulnerabilities
- Contributions to the privacy community (e.g., publications, research, blog posts, open-source projects)
- Intent to return to full-time degree program after completion of the internship
