Process Technician

This is an opportunity for a highly motivated and talented Process Technician Trainee to learn the start-up, shut down and troubleshooting of the injection molding processes. In this development program, the technician will perform basic programming on injection molding equipment and make any necessary adjustments to ensure the automation is operating efficiently. The trainee will also assist with setting up injection molding machines and all related auxiliary equipment to allow the manufacture of product that meets or exceeds the established quality levels.
The trainee will complete a 6-month training plan to:
  • Understand and become highly familiar with part number sequencing for resins (example 101001100 HDPE and BOM)
  • Learn how to properly clean air filters and emptying the canisters on the central loading pumps.
  • Learn how to operate interface control unit that controls the central loading systems (example assign proper foot valve to machine and how to enable and disable loading receivers)
  • Understand how to identify molds by mold number and descriptions
  • Learn how to perform a resin change start to finish.
  • Learn how to perform a color change start to finish.
  • Understand the process of Drying material (example temperatures, times, and what resins needs to be dried)
  • Understand the importance of cross contamination
  • Understanding the safety side of handling material
  • Learn how to operate water and oil Thermarator's and understand what resins require Thermarator's and what temperatures.
  • Learn how to operate mold heater controllers (example heater cards, 240v,480vplugs, fuses, Amp readers)
  • Learn how to operate the Teca Printer, know how to operate the interface. Know to restart the printer. Know to how to do a change over from different print, size tumbler, single to double print, and ink/thinner mixtures.
  • Learn how to operate railcar system
  • Learn how to operate the dryers: press side, central loading, and top of the press dryers
  • Learn how to perform magnet insert changes; choose correct inserts for each mold
  • Learn how to perform a mold pull insert change (Example: Bain maries, tumblers, and textured café trays)
  • Understand material identification triangle
  • Learn how to plumb mold correctly and maximize water manifolds
    Understand how to properly remove and reinstall ejector bolts and bars
  • Learn how to prep for a mold change to decrease the length of a mold change
  • Learn how to restart every press in an assigned section and troubleshoot common problems (Ex. Short shots, burns, splay, distortion, sprue breaking, sinks, flash, contamination)
  • Learn how to operate both types of robots
  • Learn how to set up a park pick program
  • Learn how to build an End of Arm Tool (EOAT)

2-3 years Injection Molding Experience
High School Diploma or GED
College degree in a related field preferred, or 2-3 years related experience and/or training
