SUMMARY OF ROLE

The Production Planner (Master Scheduler) establishes and maintains a valid Master Production Schedule (MPS) that best meets the companys on-time delivery targets in an exclusively make-to-order, project-based production environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creates an MPS that satisfies customer and company demands through managed resource utilization; utilizes the Master Schedule for the detailed plant, material, equipment and manpower capacity planning as well as financial planning
  • Coordinates with other functional groups to include, Purchasing, Accounting, Project Management, Sales, and Production Manager to ensure that planning activity results in highest possible on-time completion/delivery for customers
  • Participates in the structure and creation of project BOMs most efficient for plant routing.
  • Establishes production schedules based on raw material procurement plans and manufacturing engineering plans
  • Provides the sales team with project completion dates based on the MPS information.
  • Works with Accounting Team to prepare a backlog report indicating the status of all project timelines and estimated dates of completion
  • Analyzes and reports on resource utilization to determine overall resource capacities
  • Coordinates MPS through production, determining material availability, identifying actions and solutions required to meet projected delivery requirements
  • Prepares production analysis charts and machine load forecasts and labor forecasts
  • Follows up on planned vs actual production activity with reports to indicate accuracy
  • Utilizes a basic understanding of lean manufacturing and JIT principles including DBR tools to apply in appropriate situations
  • Successful candidate will help with company migration to a new ERP/production scheduling system
  • Other duties as assigned


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Seven (7) years related experience in planning/scheduling, or Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management or a technical field, plus three (3) years experience in planning/scheduling or equivalent required
  • Desired two (2) years experience and solid understanding of technical Master Scheduling logic, including the use of Master Schedule tools, Project Planning tools, and experience with MRP, preferably IQMS.
    Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and some working knowledge of database driven reports (Crystal Reports or equivalent)
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbally
