The Project Manager - Climate Change and Sustainability will be responsible for managing and delivering multiple technical projects across the U.S. In addition to managing scope, schedule, and budget, you will be responsible for preparing plans, reports, and presentations for industrial clients, leveraging support from consultants across Montrose. Climate-related projects may involve the quantification of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, setting science-based reduction targets, identifying and assessing emission reduction actions, and more. Other sustainability-related projects may include conducting materiality assessments, supporting ESG goal setting, and identifying and overseeing projects aimed at goal achievement (e.g., water reduction initiatives, zero waste to landfill studies, etc.) You'll interact directly with clients and will be part of a strong team of committed professionals. You'll need at least 8 years of directly relevant experience, preferably in sustainability/environmental consulting and project management for industrial clients (e.g., oil and gas, chemical, and manufacturing sectors).

A DAY IN THE LIFE

As a key member of the Environmental Advisory Services team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
  • Managing multiple environmental sustainability projects for clients in the oil & gas, chemical, and manufacturing sectors.
  • Leading project teams to ensure successful and profitable delivery of client projects.
  • Leading proposal development, including budget setting.
  • Developing new business through marketing, existing client relationships, and networking.
  • Providing technical advice to clients along their corporate sustainability journey, from early stages (e.g., materiality assessments, benchmarking) through to goal setting and action planning for goal achievement.
  • Supporting projects with a focus on managing climate impact, including the development of scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG inventories and setting Net Zero/ Science Based Targets via the SBTi.
  • Conducting visits to client locations to gather data and information to support project delivery.
  • Assisting with environmental management system (EMS) and environmental compliance program development as needed.
  • Leading communications between clients, internal subject matter experts, subcontractors, andother stakeholders.
  • Exercising safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
  • Maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Participating in our continuous improvement programs.
  • Keeping up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty responsibly and satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, geology, or an environmental science discipline.
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in environmental/sustainability consulting, with demonstrated project management responsibilities. Preference is given to candidates who have worked directly with oil & gas, manufacturing, and chemical sector clients.
  • Direct climate change-related experience (e.g., GHG emissions inventories (including Scope 3), science-based target setting, emissions reduction planning, and scenario analysis/ implementation of TCFD recommendations) are preferred, but general sustainability and environmental consulting will also be considered.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management, both internally and externally.
  • Effective and efficient project management skills, including experience developing project proposals/budgets.
  • Able to work effectively independently (i.e., self-starter, self-motivated), manage multiple responsibilities and work with agility across those responsibilities.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
