Summary of Duties:
As the Quality Assurance and Compliance Coordinator you will report directly to the WSU Privacy Officer in Compliance and Civil Rights but will also provide direct services and support to Cougar Health Services, applying a lens of equity and inclusivity to ensure that the policies and procedures of Cougar Health Services comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), accreditation standards, ADA, and other federal, state, and local laws and regulations. You will be responsible for establishing compliance programs based on best practices, diversity, equity, and inclusivity frameworks, and federal or state guidelines, ensuring that software systems and technologies support the needs of compliance programs, training Cougar Health Services staff about these regulations and guidelines, and ensuring practices are consistent with university privacy and security policies.
You will participate in other programs within Cougar Health Services, including Quality Improvement, Compliance, Risk Management, Safety, Diversity, and Accreditation teams, and may have leadership/chair responsibility of assigned committees. You will be required to maintain professional knowledge in all areas of job duties by attending and participating in educational programs and by networking with colleagues. You will also act as a resource and mentor to co-workers by modeling professional and positive behaviors.
While working independently, you will evaluate the legal and regulatory components of compliance, as well as to evaluate audits and gather trend reporting data. You will establish objectives to meet the requirements and accreditation standards applicable to CHS and recommend policies and procedures to support federal and state laws and to ensure equity and inclusivity in application of policy. As the Quality Assurance and Compliance Coordinator, your highest level of decision making is independent, with input from Compliance and Civil Rights and in consultation with the WSU Chief Compliance and Risk Officer, as needed.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to area of specialization and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Experience in an ambulatory healthcare or hospital environment in a regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and or risk management capacity.
Ability to articulate how policy intersects with equity to contribute to reduction of health disparities.
Experience working on a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in healthcare administration, public health, law, business, nursing, or another applicable field.
Experience delivering healthcare services to individuals with diverse religious/spiritual beliefs, racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities.
Demonstrated experience using policy and training to enhance diversity, inclusivity, and health equity.
Certification in healthcare compliance including HIPAA and FERPA.
Knowledge of AAAHC accreditation standards and prior experience guiding an organization through the accreditation cycle.
Experience working with Electronic Medical Records.
Experience with Power DMS, and Dashboarding software platforms.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, and Adobe Acrobat fillable forms.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
