Sargent Aerospace & Defense products are found on many major Commercial and Military aircraft in operation worldwide. Products and systems include hydraulic actuation and valve systems, locking actuators, steering metering control valves, fuse pins, hot forged bolts, pneumatic ducting and valve seals, tubing system alignment joints, engine hot section and structural components, airframe components, shock strut bearings, Teflon lined spherical bearings and broad component maintenance, overhaul, spares logistics and power-by-the-hour support services. Sargent is also a major supplier of hydraulic control valves to the US Navy on all Nuclear Class Submarine programs. Sargent has an immediate opening for aQuality Systems Engineer.

This position will be responsible to the quality manager to ensure the quality management system is effectively implemented and maintained. Additionally, they will demonstrate experience as a quality systems engineer supporting and mentoring employees within an AS9100 quality management system.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Report quality system performance, as directed by the Quality Manager
  • Ensures that Quality Management System meets current AS9100 requirements.
  • Reviews, approves and posts quality documents as required.
  • Ensures proper document control practices are followed throughout the site.
  • Schedules internal audits
  • Coordinate external audits for both customer and regulatory agencies.
  • Trains and mentors internal auditors to achieve/support an effective internal audit program.
  • Reviews and accepts or rejects corrective/preventive action responses for internal and supplier responses.
  • Serves as Corrective Action Board (CAB) chairperson during the absence of the quality manager
  • Monitors Quality Bulletin Process for both internal and external Quality bulletins.
  • Back-up OASIS administrator

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field OR an Associate degree in Engineering or related technical field plus 3 years of related experience OR in lieu of a degree, minimum of 5 years of related experience and high school diploma or GED
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to confidently speak and present in front of large groups of both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Very strong MS Office Skills, e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word etc.
  • Experience with customer, regulators, and 3rdparty auditors.
  • Experience in formulating corrective action responses to address customer and 3rdparty audit findings.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Experience managing corrective action tracking systems.
  • ASQ CQE certification
  • AS9100 certified Lead Auditor with auditing experience
  • Experience with 8D problem solving methods
  • Experience facilitating cause analysis and mistake proofing teams
  • Working knowledge of statistical process controls
  • Supplier audit experience
  • AS9102 experience
