The R&D Project Leader - Color Specialistsupports the goals of the business by delivering the technical workstream on multiple regional or global projects. This position will work withthe cross functional aspects of the business specifically in the and translates customer requirements into product attributes.

  • Specializing in color, pigments and pigment dispersions, to execute, report and manage R&Dprojects. To set scope and develop project plan, business case and execution tactical plan, in linewith the R&D strategy, project and R&D functional standards ensuring a successful delivery of theaimed project result

Key Accountabilities

  • Demonstrate strong project management skills with detailed project plans and ability to manage multiple short- and long-term projects at once
  • Oversee and/or lead the development of new products, or review of existing products, including scale up and customer trials
  • Operate as a mentor and role model to peers in day to day activities
  • Participate in bench work, as necessary, and drive efficiency through example and coaching
  • Create workplans, allocate materials and manpower, and review results with team members
  • Plan on a yearly timescale with regular stakeholder reviews
  • Recognize the need for and proactively teach skills to the professional and technical staff
  • Write and supervise execution of complex DOE's, including data analysis and interpretation, to create new product families or rationalize portfolios
  • Understand customer requirements and translate into technical parameters and testing
  • Act as technical expert for communication with internal and external stakeholders, such as internal technical reports and customer presentations
  • Maintain contact with global R&D labs to ensure knowledge gathering and sharing
  • Effective interaction with production sites and global labs to implement new products or make processing improvements

Key Activities

  • Is ambassador for the project including communication, stakeholder management andproviding the environment for success of the project
  • Sets objectives for project team members, provides clear, open and constructive feedback
  • Creates an open environment in the project team where all people can perform at their bestand ensures an engaged project team.
  • Writes business case for projects, manages and plans relevant (departmental) budget andproactively manages the cost and acts in line with HSE and Compliance regulations
  • Acts as a focal point and presents project progress, based on milestones, exceptions and deliverables on a regular basis to stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or higher in a laboratory science, preferably chemistry, materials science, or chemical engineering
  • 8+ years work experience in chemistry or coatings industry
  • Excellent knowledge of chemistry/polymers/formulation in coatings with previous hands-on experience
  • Familiar with the Stage Gate, DOE process, and project management tools
  • Available to travel, as necessary (15%)
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and able to work easily with cross-functional groups (sales, marketing, supply chain)
  • Adaptive communication style to different levels of the organization, from technician to Director
  • Ability to deal with and work in environment with high level of ambiguity
  • Capability of integration in an international/multi-cultural environment
  • Be a role model of safe work environment practices
