A limited permit technologist can perform basic imaging allowing the registered technologist the opportunity to perform advanced examinations.

Essential Job Functions
Ensures radiological services provided are in compliance with standards established by the institution, state and according to limited permit State statute. Performs non-complex procedures and radiographs using the appropriate department routine as ordered. Performs examinations using all general radiographic equipment. Ensures all exams are checked by the registered radiologic technologist for critique and approval. Prepares the room, equipment and supplies as dictated by the particular examination or patient needs and processes the necessary radiographs. Prepares the patient for the examination by ensuring the patient is attired properly, explains the examination to the patient and transfers and positions the patient as needed. Demonstrates awareness of radiation safety for patients, self and co-workers. Informs management, lead technologist, or registered radiology tech of any unusual concerns, situations or conditions relative to staff, patients and physicians. Prepare images for reading by physician as well as contact any additional physicians for a second opinion if needed. Prepares for the day by assuring that all medical records, tests results and imaging are available for the physician. Assists with the application of Quality Improvement Program. Assists with technique chart and stocks and cleans room as needed. Assists the patient at the end of the examination. Maintains adequate inventory of all required supplies by informing appropriate personnel for acquisition. Performs a variety of clerical and filing tasks, as required, such as working up patients information, image file maintenance, and completing the appropriate paperwork following each examination. May assist in front desk duties by answering phones and scheduling and directing patients Identifies need and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
