Job Description Summary

Receives and verifies incoming shipments of raw potatoes, guides incoming shipments into proper bays, responsible for the unloading of raw potatoes and correct sampling procedures. The Raw Product Receiver reports directly to the Production Supervisor.

Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Moves and positions pilers and pups, connects truck discharge belt, starts discharge belt and piler and moves piler boom to unload and pile potatoes in bay or insures that Receiver Helper performs these tasks.

Flumes or insures that helpers flume the trucks, when pilers or other unloading equipment are inoperable.

Estimates and records tonnage of at the end of the shift.

Required to perform weekend cleanup duties as assigned.

SAFETY: Must have a complete knowledge and understanding of the plant safety rules including but not limited to the lockout-tagout procedure, chemical hazards and the hearing conservation program. Must have good personal hygiene and be able to practice safe work habits.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

One to 45 shifts on the job qualification period.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate in English commensurate with the requirements of this position.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's work location, job duties, experience and expertise. A reasonable hourly estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $17.63 - $18.40
