What you'll do:

The Oncology Regional Field Medical Director (RFMD) leads a team of MSLs who are in charge of being the local medical voice of AstraZeneca in the disease area of interest. The RFMD will be part of the Field Medical Therapy Area Leadership team, led by the National Field Medical Director (NFMD) .

The Oncology RFMD is the representative of the field medical team and is accountable for the delivery of Medical Science Liaison (MSL) field medical plans. They must lead and evolve, in response to company direction and growth, the field-based medical organization, including establishing and iterating on standard operating procedures and best practices.

Additional Accountabilities will include driving the Development of high performing MSLs. Includes hiring, recruiting, ongoing performance and talent assessment and development of field medical teams. Partner with NFMD to understand and execute Regional and GEO-based field medical strategy for assigned therapeutic area; provide direction and prioritization to MSLs around customer engagement plans, speaker program support, clinical trial support, scientific exchange and collaborative research within the region and therapeutic area. Provide information and insight to help inform GEO/account coverage and prioritization decisions that meet local market needs and align with therapeutic area strategy.

Essential Requirements

  • Advanced scientific degree required (i.e. Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, PA or NP) in a relevant health science or clinical discipline
  • 5-7 years' experience in pharmaceutical industry
  • 2+ years in field leadership experience
  • Ability to lead MSL activities in assigned Therapeutic Area
  • Strong skills in coaching, leading, and management of people
  • Ability to travel 30% + (Company Car provided)

Desirable Requirements
  • MBA in conjunction with advanced scientific degree
  • 3-4 years of pharmaceutical Medical Science Liaison experience
