Job Description Summary
The purpose of this position is to perform critical research to define neural injury from sleep loss and advance the mechanisms of injury. The research specialist will perform immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopy to localize neural injury and define injury pathways. The research specialist will perform complimentary western blots and ELISA's to assess post-translational modifications on response to sleep loss. The research specialist will perform RT-PCR and genotyping assays. The individual will have the opportunity to co-author manuscripts and present data at international meetings.
This position is contingent upon grant funding.
Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
1.) Multi-label immunohistochemistry
2.) Imaging fluorescence, light microscopy, confocal microscopy
3.) ELISA, western blots
4.) RT-PCR
5.) Genotyping
6.) Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
The individual should have a college degree and should have at least one year of experience working full time in a biomedical research laboratory at a university or equivalent combination of education and experience required. The individual should be able to perform one or more research methods (e.g., immunohistochemistry, ELISA's Westerns, RT-PCR) independently.
