Summary:

Provides direct patient care in an area designated as a specialty unit in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

Please note that position requires: Less than 6 months of nursing experience and a valid BLS from either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.

Responsibilities:

Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral, spiritual and psychosocial support needs.Evaluates learning needs of patient and family; provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.

Additional Job Information:

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communications skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: Must be a new graduate with less than six (6) months clinical experience as a Registered Nurse. Other Information: Newly licensed RNs have 6 months to obtain ACLS and-or PALS. NRP certification required for NICU - if RN is coming from a non-NICU background, they have 6 months from date in position to obtain NRP.Additional Credential Info: May need ACLS, NRP, PALS (Depending on department).
