Role Overview
The Ruminants Technical Director, Global Commercial Development (GCD) Livestock, will play an important role in providing global technical leadership for Ruminants, expertise toward therapeutic area planning (in areas such as Biologicals, Anti-infectives, Parasiticides, Performance, Reproduction, etc.), new product planning (including any necessary market development and Key Opinion Leader (KOL) management needed), and lifecycle planning. The Technical Director will partner with Veterinary Medical Research & Development (VMRD) and the GCD Commercial Lead to advance early-stage Ruminants assets through the Zoetis milestones, as well as into early and late-stage development. They will also support the in-line Ruminants portfolio globally and serve as a central technical point of contact for global operational colleagues and other internal stakeholders such as Outcomes Research, etc.
The Technical Director will be a key member of the Ruminants Global Asset Teams and the VMRD-led project teams for Ruminants projects. They will develop and maintain relationships with KOLs to meet relevant therapeutic area, asset development and lifecycle planning needs and work closely with the GCD Commercial Lead.
For new products, the Technical Director is responsible for managing medically related global launch activities including, in collaboration with VMRD, development of technical documentation for use in the markets and the medical component of the global launch plan such as disclosure planning. In addition, they will partner with lead markets to ensure that data needs for successful launches are communicated to VMRD and incorporated into clinical studies to be leveraged at launch. The Technical Director will also play a key role in lifecycle planning and execution for new and key in-line products.
As a leader in the Zoetis organization, the Technical Director, models Zoetis core beliefs and communicates the importance of conducting business in a manner consistent with Zoetis values and behaviors. They report to the Head of GCD Livestock.
Key Accountabilities
Leading the Ruminants Business
- In collaboration with VMRD, the GCD Commercial Lead, and the lead markets, support and execute the long-term species strategy.
- Provide technical leadership for relevant commercial matters of medical importance which require a globally coordinated solution or a technical response requiring input from VMRD or other internal stakeholders.
- Ensure new product technical competency of technical colleagues across the global markets at launch and continuing post-approval; and support new product launches.
- In collaboration with the VMRD and the Global Portfolio Lead, create and execute a market development plan and publication plan for new assets so that new products and technologies are properly positioned, and data is available when determined to be most beneficial.
- Support milestones for pipeline products and annual prioritization of lifecycle initiatives. Participate in preparing and presenting therapeutic area reviews and business updates to Senior Management.
- Collaborate with Business Development to identify and assess potential acquisitions that are consistent with established species strategy.
- Track emerging technologies and competition.
Qualifications and ExperienceThese qualifications, experiences, and skills are highly desirable; however, they do not preclude exceptions based on an individual's performance history and demonstrated potential.
- Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD or equivalent degree)
- Post-doctoral qualifications (e.g. PhD, Master's Degree and/or board certification) strongly preferred, however, relevant clinical experience will be considered.
- 10+ years of global/regional/country level experience providing technical support of commercial initiatives with a proven record demonstrating successful new product launches and supporting commercial business needs
- Knowledge of the product development process and technical data analysis.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills and ability to influence without authority.
- Strong individual leadership presence.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to oversee complex, cross-functional projects that require input from many internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office and ability to learn Zoetis systems)
- Ability to interact with/influence Senior Leadership with confidence and conviction.
