This is the perfect opportunity for a medical device engineer to step into a business development role. This role is a commercially focused role that has significant exposure to customers and all aspects of the Nordson MEDICAL business. The ideal candidate will use their technical background to efficiently align with customer expectations in supporting new business opportunities for Nordson MEDICAL. This is a fast paced role with daily variety and expansive exposure to medical device companies and applications.

Job Summary

Supports the business development cycle for Nordson MEDICAL globally by fielding, analyzing, managing, and tracking customer opportunities. Utilizes a collaborative approach to service new customer Requests for Quotes (RFQs) and supports the new product introduction process for existing accounts.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze/Review Requests for Quotes (RFQs)
  • Determine if the opportunity falls within Nordson capabilities
  • Determine any missing commercial or technical information
  • Formulate any clarifying questions for the customer/sales rep
  • Review specifications to evaluate whether they are within Nordson Medical capability
  • Work with various team members across the business to identify a customer solution and proposal strategy
  • Work with internal and external teams to compile quote model for management review
  • Create proposals for customer delivery and discussion
  • Manage/compile a log of component pricing and average cycle times for faster/more accurate quoting
  • Manage and maintain data in CRM system entering new opportunities, routine follow up on open proposals, closing lost/won opportunities
  • Identify and support upselling opportunities with existing clients
  • Utilize technical competency to provide upstream engineered solutions to customers in early stage development
  • Organize existing inventory for samples to offer on request of customers
  • Prepare sales reports by collecting and analyzing key performance metrics
  • Support customer calls and presentations to close new business opportunities
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned by manager
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering is required.
  • Previous hands on medical device product development or manufacturing experience highly desired (preferably interventional, single use disposables).
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Must be able to work under pressure/meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Strong problem-solving skills and technical comprehension of Nordsons service, design, and product offerings
  • Must be able to effectively multitask while remaining organized to ensure action items are completed within commitment dates
  • Strong desire to learn new technologies and clinical applications of interventional medical devices
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Must be outgoing and willing to ask questions from a cross-functional team
