Position Title: Senior Accountant (Non-Profit Experience Preferred)

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant with a preference for candidates who have previous experience working in the non-profit sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of our organization, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and providing strategic guidance to support our mission-driven initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Generate budget vs. actual reports and variance analyses to support informed decision-making by management and the Board of Directors.
• Compile financial data and metrics for grant proposals, donor reporting, and regulatory compliance.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Collaborate with departmental managers to develop and monitor annual operating budgets.
• Provide financial projections and forecasts to assist in organizational planning and resource allocation.
• Conduct budget reviews and recommend adjustments as needed to ensure fiscal responsibility and alignment with strategic goals.

Grants and Fund Accounting:

• Manage the accounting for restricted funds, grants, and contracts, ensuring proper allocation and tracking of expenditures.
• Prepare financial reports for grantors, donors, and other stakeholders in accordance with grant agreements and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with program managers to ensure accurate recording of program-related expenses and compliance with funding restrictions.

Compliance and Internal Controls:

• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, IRS regulations, and grant requirements.
• Develop and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and maintain the integrity of financial data.
• Assist in annual audits and coordinate with external auditors to provide necessary documentation and explanations.

Process Improvement and Systems Integration:

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in financial operations.
• Evaluate accounting systems and software to optimize functionality and integration with other organizational systems.
• Provide training and support to staff on accounting procedures and system usage.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
