Job Description

GPI is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer in Central or Eastern Pennsylvania to join our team in Allentown, Mechanicsburg, Philadelphia, or Scranton, PA. The Engineer will lead our growing Bridge Safety Inspection practice in PA while supporting bridge safety inspection in other states. You will also support our marketing and business development team, focusing on Bridge Safety Inspections statewide and all GPI services in Southeast PA. The ideal individual can lead a team in delivering our current projects and assist in growing our Transportation practice in Pennsylvania. The work may also include NHI Bridge safety inspection course instruction.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team delivering bridge safety inspections throughout PA while supporting bridge safety inspections in other states
  • Work with a team of professionals to lead and conduct bridge safety inspections
  • Interact with clients and assist with marketing and business development statewide in relation to bridge safety inspection
  • Support marketing and business development for all GPI services in southeast PA
  • Perform field observations and site visits
  • Prepare or modify reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, permits, and designs for projects, with a focus on bridge design
  • Conduct research and preparation of reports, and present findings and results to clients
  • Support the client with capital improvement planning including providing cost estimates, feasibility studies, and developing recommendations and innovative solutions
Qualifications:
  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required
  • 10+ years of experience in bridge design and transportation solutions
  • PE is required, and PA CBSI is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience using CADD Software, such as Microstation or AutoCAD
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and manage a team

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails, and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19\" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to climb and leave a ladder to a platform varying from 6' to 20'
  • Able to wear and operate personal fall arresting apparatus, and work at a height 6' or higher
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
  • Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Able to work in a confined space by the definition of OSHA Construction Standards 29CFR 1926
  • Able to wear and work utilizing a respirator or SCBA type of breathing apparatus
