A day in the life.

As our Senior Claims Specialist (SCS) on the Claims Department, you will be responsible for the following:

The primary function of this position is to provide claims' advocacy for our clients and Business Managers. The ideal candidate will have exemplary customer service abilities, a keen eye for detail and a strong organizational mindset. Armed with expertise and empathy, you will be responsible for managing and processing claims for our clients, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and a superior service. You will be expected to manage a caseload of claims, which will include reviewing documentation and insurance policies and bring claims to a resolution in a satisfactory and timely manner. You will maintain detailed and accurate claim files in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. The SCS will collaborate with internal teams, management and insurance carriers, as necessary to facilitate claim resolution. In a fast-paced industry where no two days are alike, the SCS navigates challenges with grace, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to excellence.

  • A strong understanding of insurance principles, policies and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diversity of individuals.
  • An ability to establish and develop methods to keep the evolution of claims statuses updated.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and make sound decisions.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities, with a demonstrated track record of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • You will be expected to work with the Claims' Team Leader to assist with general daily duties which may include:
  • Determining claim liabilities, value, and service provider fees, subrogation matters.
  • Assisting and facilitating the appropriate service partner to defend insured and quantify liability and damages.
  • Notifying insurers when a file exceeds specific criteria set by each insurer (such as cost, claim type, or complexity) to keep insurers briefed on what Claims may be of high concern to them.
  • Developing final reports summarizing lifecycle of a claim, such responding to loss requests.
  • Monitoring claim files and obtain routine status updates, including providing regular status updates to service teams. Respond to requests for updates or questions form the services team or clients in a timely manner.
  • Pursue programs for personal and professional development.
  • Collaborating with the Claims' Team to maintain a professional and successful department contributing to the organization's overall success.

These additional qualifications are a plus, but not required to apply:
  • College Degree preferred (high school diploma is required).
  • 5+ years of experience in property and casualty claims.
  • Property & Casualty license preferred.
  • Proficient MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Applied EPIC AMS knowledge preferred.

Work environment & physical demands.
  • Ability to use computer keyboard and sit in a stationary position for extended periods as well as use office machinery such as fax and copy machines, and telephones.
  • Work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

The applicable base salary range for this role $68,970 to $110,440. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
