Job Summary

This position will lead the project management, engineering, codes, compliance, and construction teams and provide direction over project planning, engineering and construction, and execution solutions in support of ongoing operations, new business development, and acquisition driven growth. A person at this level is considered an expert or authority in energy related equipment, systems and construction. This employee exercises independent discretion, judgment and leadership within established policies, procedures and practices. Performance results are reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to these policies, procedures and practices.

Key Accountabilities

  • Directs in-house project management, codes, compliance, engineering and construction leaders by establishing priorities and goals for the departments and staff leaders; conducts quarterly progress reviews with team leaders and documents performance annually.
  • Manages and monitors the project management, design and installation work of outside engineering/construction firms and represents DTM’s interest from a design, installation and operability perspective.
  • Provides support to project management, codes, compliance, engineering and construction leaders regarding interpretation, evaluation and resolution of technical design issues.
  • Directs and reviews conceptual design, preliminary equipment sizing, projects costs, manages budgets and maintains relationships with equipment vendors, engineering firms, EPC contractors, and DTM’s customers.
  • Manages technical and high-level construction negotiations relative to project performance guarantees, schedules, scope and pricing with outside engineering and construction firms, customers, and equipment suppliers as needed.
  • Monitors progress of outside engineering/construction firms; establishes reporting protocol and resolves any outstanding issues.
  • Approves all construction budgets, staffing plans, and schedules in conjunction with operations’ personnel.
  • Oversees scheduled construction activities as well as high level schedule adherence; ensures action plans are updated and communicated as appropriate.
  • Provides lead role in providing technical support and due diligence associated with greenfield project development and acquisition of new company growth opportunities.
  • Supports execution of company business plan and participates as an integral component of senior leadership team.
  • Ensures engineering and construction department records are maintained in accordance with Company records retention policies and regulatory requirements by working with internal Document Control personnel and enforcing document management practices within the Construction, Engineering and Project Management Groups.
  • Understands general contract language and obligations including but not limited to construction contracts and gas gathering agreements.
  • Reviews production forecasts and establishes capital infrastructure requirements.
  • Reviews operating conditions and system capacities to ensure system optimization.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical or comparable engineering. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant graduate degrees in engineering, management, or business.
  • Experience in construction and operations project management.
  • 10 years+ supervisory experience.
Other Qualifications Preferred:
  • Experience with an independent energy company or engineering & construction firm.
Other Requirements:
  • Travel is required (up to 30%).
  • Applicable work experience dealing with power generation (reciprocating engines, gas turbines, steam turbines, boilers, heat recovery equipment, thermal cycles), gas compression and gas pipelines with landfill gas experience viewed as a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS applications, including Word, Excel and Project, in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.
  • Possess and maintain professional licensure.
  • A well-organized and self-directed individual.
