Under the direction of the Space Strategy and Planning Manager, responsibilities include: Ensuring full participation with Federal and Municipal entitlement programs for all clients. Supporting client housing needs and services as IAP defined. Maintaining working relationship with community housing resources. Maintaining documentation and compliance of the HUD contract. Requires access to personal vehicle and valid driver's license for client transportation.

  • Works with ACCS staff and clients in order to promote Housing First model
  • Maintains positive active relationships with local landlords, housing authorities, the Department of Mental Health and other housing resources in order to support the needs of clients in ACCS services
  • Provides lead communication in conjunction with ACCS program directors with the Department of Mental Health on establishing best practices for housing.
  • Collaborates with ACCS staff and the Space Strategy and Planning Coordinator on coordinating and facilitating moves, identifying prospective housing opportunities & relationships, and providing support as well as consultation regarding client moves
  • Meets individually and in groups to support clients on housing needs such as filling out paperwork and doing searches
  • Accompanies ACCS staff and DMH/other involved entities on scheduled licensing/recertification walk-throughs and related procedures; knowledgeable about DMH licensing guidelines and supports with preparation needed for related tasks
  • Remains current on all changes/trends in housing services/subsidies
  • Attends trainings on above topics and shares information with program managers and staff
  • Works with business office to maintain current records on all subsidies
  • Works with facilities to maintain current listings of all agency housing
  • Provides training and support to the Housing Specialist position on an ongoing basis
  • Must demonstrate the following characteristics: flexibility with schedule, team player, ability to grow in position, attention to detail and excellent communication skills
  • Preference to knowledge and experience in recovery oriented services

Required Skills
  • BA/BS in Human Services or related field preferred
  • Valid MA driver's license and access to personal vehicle
  • MAP certification is required

Required Experience
  • 3 years of experience working in Mental Health, housing and/or entitlements preferred
  • Working knowledge of DMH contracting and regulations for community based treatment programs
  • In addition, a working familiarity with SSI, MassHealth, housing systems, and other entitlements in MA
