Your Opportunity

This individual will be familiar with ASME Section VIII Boiler and Pressure Vessel code requirements, providing support to local team as well as the global design team on these requirements. The position will also represent the local site for ASME Section VIII day to day compliance and certification audits in addition to representing SGL in ASME/NBIC meetings. The individual will provide professional advice and support to internal departments concerning technical and engineering issues as well as provide recommendations for optimizing internal processes. The role will also support creation of technical specifications / purchase requisitions and evaluate corresponding bids in order to support procurement processes as well as oversee preparation of Equipment Arrangement Drwgs for Systems. #CB1

Key Accountabilities

  • Work closely with management team to hit drawing package deadlines, answer technical questions, support ASME code questions
  • Mechanical design of process equipment with 2D/3D CAD Systems (Solid Edge) in accordance with SGL specific design standards and in accordance with order specific requirements/specifications
  • Preparation of mechanical strength calculations acc. Local codes (e.g. EN, ASME, CODAP, etc) for process equipment
  • Support preparation of general assembly drawings and detailed design drawings including preparation of related bills of material, enter BOM into SAP
  • Support the preparation of technical specifications of steel parts for inquiry, perform analysis of corresponding bids, and work with customers to define technical specifications and submit changes to customer's specification package
  • Coordination and cooperation with fabrication at shop floor level in order to continuously gain feedback for improvement of equipment design (economic fabrication)
  • Support product managers in standardization of process equipment

Your Profile

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • A minimum of five years of experience in design related to fabrication of pressure vessels
  • Expertise in mechanical design of process equipment and mechanical strength calculation (local codes e.g. ASME)
  • Experience with SOLIDEDGE or equivalent
  • Handling of Mechanical Design Engineering projects and production orders on schedule
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Experience with preparation of GA drawings as well as detailed design drawings (2D & 3D) for various process equipment's.
