Senior Scientist - Antibody-Drug Conjugate Portfolio

Are you ready to make a significant impact in the field of cancer biology? We are seeking a highly motivated and independent Senior Scientist to join our antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) portfolio team within the Early Oncology Discovery group in Gaithersburg, MD USA. This is your chance to be a key member of a team focused on bringing new ADC projects into the portfolio and advancing them through all stages of pre-clinical development.

Accountabilities:

As a Senior Scientist, you will be expected to serve as Oncology biology lead for one or more pipeline programs, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely generation and dissemination of critical program data. You will also be responsible for the delivery of key pre-clinical data that support a strong biological rationale for program progression. In addition, you will develop, design, conduct, troubleshoot, and analyze in vitro experiments to assess the function of our ADCs and dissect the mechanism of action of these novel cancer therapeutics.

Essential Skills/Experience:

• PhD Degree with 3+ years of experience, Master's Degree with 5+ years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 10+ years and project leadership experience in a relevant discipline.

• Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional project teams.

  • Good knowledge of antibody-drug conjugates including bioassays to characterize them.
• Strong knowledge of cell biology, molecular biology, and/or biochemistry in the context of cancer biology.

• Experience cell-based methodologies such as multicolor flow cytometry, fluorescent and live cell microscopy, cytotoxicity assays especially in 3D are a must.

• Works independently to design and conduct key experiments to support program progression.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

• A proven track record of productivity, as demonstrated by scientific publications in high quality peer-reviewed journals.

• Ensures own work, and work of peers, is compliant with Good Laboratory Practice, Safety, Health, and Environment standards and all other relevant internal AstraZeneca standards and external regulations.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

• Prior experience in the biopharmaceutical industry preferable but not required.

• Hands on experience with pre-clinical in vivo models of cancer would be viewed favorably.

• Experience in pre-clinical models of hematological cancer, and hematological cancer cell biology would be viewed favorably but not required.
