SUMMARY

The Modeling and Simulation Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides support to the United States Air Force training and simulation environment. This position implements innovative models, simulations, and analysis to support simulator and classroom training systems for mission rehearsal training in both a stand-alone and distributed environment. This position provides subject matter expertise for augment reality site specific training in support of security operations, and to enhance collective skills, command and control operations in a joint environment. The Modeling and Simulation SME uses expertise in the areas of security forces operations, integrated base defense, base security operations, area security operations and Command and Control (C2).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Plans, coordinates and prepares training simulation operation and instructions.

Prepares project briefs, training instructions, scenario developments, modifications, and testing.

Responsible for system initialization, calibration, and set up or reset.

Monitors all facets of execution and commander role player functions.

Responsible for debriefings, hot washes, and After Action Reviews (AAR).

Performs minor on the spot troubleshooting and maintenance and keeps the area and equipment clean.

Accountable for all assigned training and simulation property.

Performs maintenance on additional systems incorporated with virtual systems (Rollover simulator, Joint Defense Operations Center (JDOC) simulator and Basic Division Officer Course (BDOC) simulator).

Plans, designs and implements instructional system design based off Readiness Training Center (RTC) requirements. The specific scenarios, terrain and 3D models will be developed with the approval of the RTC.

Extracts and reviews mission scenarios in an After Action Review (AAR) format.

Performs pre (real-time) and post-mission operational checks on the augmented reality training platform for mission rehearsal.

Creates and maintains standard naming conventions. Saves and stores all data for reuse.

Provides instruction on subject matters to support specific efforts as identified by the Government.

Analyzes unit performance during gaming lane training and gaming environment exercises through every phase of each mission. Provides in-depth oral and written assessments of unit performance and provides feedback to the unit using the AAR process at the completion of the exercise.

Attends US Army Gaming for Training related courses as directed by the Quality Assurance Representative (QAR).

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree and a minimum of ten (10) years' relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience. Minimum of 10 years' Army, Marine Corps, Air Force experience, preferably as a military police/security forces member, combat company grade officer or senior non-commissioned officer with a seasoned practical working knowledge or Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED). Must have a strong background in Base Security Operations, Joint Security Environments and Law Enforcement. Combat Training Center and/or combat experience in Iraq or Afghanistan are preferred but not required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION

Must have an active government secret security clearance

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

Knowledge of counter-insurgency operations and doctrine is desired

Working knowledge of Gaming software applications is desired

Knowledge of the Joint Defense Operations Center (JDOC), Base Defense Operations Center (BDOC) and Tactical Operations Center (TOC)

Knowledge on Land Navigation, Base Security Operations and ECP/TCP Operations

Knowledge of Security Forces training and standard/evaluation process

Knowledge in utilizing computer applications and simulations related automation to support virtual training.

Strong briefing skills and ability to teach basic skills to operate in the virtual environment

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
