Sr. Manager, (SRO) Strategy Realization

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Strategic Realization Office Leader, the Strategy Realization Sr. Manager (SRSM) has direct responsibility and oversight for two teams within the SRO: the Strategy Realization team and the Enterprise Delivery Enablement team. The SRSM directly manages the day-to-day activities of these team members, acting as their direct manager and handling all people responsibilities.

Under Strategy Realization, the SRSM will have direct oversight and responsibilities for all activities and deliverables produced under this team, which at a high-level, includes: Strategic Initiative Roadmap and Gantt, Business Value Modeling, Measurements and Realization Audits, and Executive & Stakeholder Communications and Reporting. Under Enterprise Delivery Enablement, the SRSM will have direct oversight and responsibilities for all activities and deliverables produced under this team, which at a high-level, includes: Project and Program Financial Mgmt., Project and Program Resource & Capacity Mgmt., Project and Program Communications, Project and Program Change Mgmt., Project and Program Delivery Reporting, Project and Program Quarterly Planning, Project and Program Milestones, Goals & Performance.

In addition, the SRSM will work closely with the SRO Leader as well as other key Strategy, Business and Technology leaders to implement the policies, practices and tools needed for this function to be successful. Furthermore, this role will play a key part in acting as a Liaison to other corporate functions to ensure alignment with enterprise initiatives.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for all HR manager duties including managing a budget, performance objectives, training & development, as well as provide day-to-day functional direction
  • Oversees the operationalization of the Strategic Plan to realize specific business value from the named strategic initiatives
  • Ensures strategic initiative leaders establish business value measures and ensures those measures are "baked" into the delivery of the program
  • Ensures all strategic value realization efforts are rolled-up and coordinated for maximum efficiency and effectiveness
  • Establishes, monitors and reports on any initiative-based performance goals
  • Works with business, technology, and transformational leaders to coordinate, prioritize, and sequence initiatives
  • In conjunction with initiative leaders, establishes and measures benefit realization across all initiatives for the enterprise
  • Is a conduit towards managing risks & issues plus facilitates escalates to executives
  • Ensures each initiative is adequately funded, staffed and empowered to be successful
  • Ensures each "benefit" is tied to the Strategic Plan objectives and has accountable owners
  • Oversees business value audits to ensure realization occurs
  • Approves the policies, procedures & tools for this area to function successfully
  • Provides timely, accurate and high value reports & communications to leadership and stakeholders

Required Knowledge & Experience

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • BS/BA diploma in computers, MIS, management or a relevant field; MS/MA/MBA is a plus
  • 10+ years of professional experience
  • 5+ years leading teams of varying functions
  • 3+ years defining processes and reporting for a functional area
  • Insurance and/or technical delivery experience preferred
  • Understanding of project/program management techniques
  • Understanding of data concepts as well as business reporting tools (Tableau, Excel, ...)
  • Knowledge of performance evaluation, change and communications management principles
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office & Teams; working knowledge of program/project management software (Jira, Azure DevOps, MS Project etc.) and collaboration (SharePoint, Confluence, MS Teams) is a strong advantage
Work Environment/ Other Information
  • Minimal travel may be required
  • In office or voluntary remote opportunities exist for this position, though frequent onsite meetings may be required to ensure successful outcomes
