We are currently looking for a Sr. PD Chemist in our Flanders, New Jersey facility. You will work as a member of the Exterior Coatings Team with a focus on Industrial Maintenance, Stains, and primers blending experience with new technology to move products into the next generation of coatings.

  • Initiate, design, and execute multi-dimensional projects
  • Able to plan and lead large cross-functional teams and projects
  • Develop comprehensive project plans with Marketing, Manufacturing, Procurement and other key stakeholders
  • Possess a deep knowledge of formulation tools, techniques, and metrics.
  • Possess strong knowledge of coatings application techniques
  • Work closely with and lead Quality and Manufacturing in the identification and resolution of quality and processing issues
  • Actively seek and leverage internal and external best in class knowledge, including competitive and industry playing fields
  • Identify industry trends and directions for new products
  • Actively identifies, researches, and broadly shares new ingredients and formulation tools
  • Actively participates on teams to guide planning and decision making
  • Proactively identifies learning or capability building opportunities for yourself and reports
  • Adhere to all laboratory safety guidelines

Required Skills:
  • BS or MS Chemistry or related science required
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Strong people and cross-functional team management skills
  • Exhibits & fosters team behavior within & outside the laboratory
  • Excellent communication, presentation & organizational skills
  • Possess good analytical problem-solving skills to make timely & accurate decisions
  • Working knowledge of project management tools
  • Clear & concise record keeping
  • Some experience in Industrial maintenance coatings formulating
  • Understanding of local, state & federal regulations relating to VOC’s and hazardous chemical
  • Perform product physical and application testing
  • Record test results efficiently and accurately in computer and laboratory notebook
  • Independently executes work assignments
  • Maintain and clean laboratory equipment
  • Adhere to all laboratory safety guidelines
  • Maintain laboratory supplies

  • Good communication, presentation & organizational skills
  • Ability to think creatively

Education & Experience:
  • BS in related field
  • 0-3 years’ experience in a laboratory setting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Basic knowledge of coatings, test methods or application techniques, is a plus
