Structural Designer

Career Area: Engineering - Structural

What We're Looking For:
Barge is currently seeking to fill the position of Structural Designer in one of our Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, or Ohio office locations. Remote work may also be available for this role.

Responsibilities for this position include:

• Works independently in developing preliminary and finished structural design packages by working collaboratively with Engineers, Project Managers, and Clients
• Prepares design computations and quantity estimates using various software packages
• Communicates with clients pertaining to specific projects and attends client meetings
• Coordinates between clients, teaming partners, and other disciplines that are working on project
• Provides technical CADD support to other designers
• Mentors younger Designers and Engineers
• Provides assistance in performing building and system evaluations and inspections
• A demonstrated ability to remain abreast of new and current design concepts and techniques.
• Strong problem solving and interpersonal/communication skills
• Capable of reading and interpreting plans from other disciplines (i.e., architectural, structural, civil, plumbing, electrical, mechanical)
• A demonstrated ability to perform project designs with only general technical supervision from the engineering staff.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

Education & Experience Qualifications:

• Two-year degree in Engineering Technology, Computer Drafting or equivalent with 8 years relevant experience performing design work or other relevant combination of education and/or experience
• Must have Autodesk Revit Structure experience
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret job-related manuals and documents
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
