The Opportunity: Surgical Technologist - First Assist (FA)

Why This Role Is Important

Under the direction and supervision of the surgeon and in accordance with ASC policy and appropriate laws and regulations, the Certified Surgical Technologist FA (CST-FA) aids in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out safe operations with optimal results for the patient. In addition to intraoperative duties, the surgical assistant may perform preoperative and postoperative duties to better facilitate proper patient care and coordinate the care of the surgical patient with other team members. In addition, the CST-FA performs in the role of the Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room as needed.

Qualifications
Required Experience

o A minimum of 3 years progressive, diversified experience in the operating room which includes both scrubbing and First Assist

o Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited surgical first assist program

o Assisting in multiple specialties.

o Has successfully completed an accredited educational program for surgical technologists AND is certified as a surgical technologist accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, the American College of Surgeons, and the Association of Surgical Technologists

o 2 years' experience as surgical technologist

o AHA BLS certification

Preferred Experience We Hope You Have

o 5 years of diversified experience in the operating room scrubbing and 2 years of First Assisting in multiple specialties.

o Associates Degree or higher, preferred but not required

o A minimum of 3 years progressive, diversified experience in the operating room which includes both scrubbing and First Assist

o Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited surgical first assist program

o Assisting in multiple specialties.

o Has successfully completed an accredited educational program for surgical technologists AND is certified as a surgical technologist accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, the American College of Surgeons, and the Association of Surgical Technologist

o 2 years' experience as surgical technologist

o AHA BLS certification
