Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, and based at corporate headquarters in Chicago, Illinois (or New York City), the Senior Vice President, Investor Relations will be responsible for leading the strategic and proactive investor relations function at Cushman and Wakefield. This individual will lead an IR platform that is outward facing in engagement with the marketplace and investors, provides insight and influence to the management team, and adds value to the business overall. The Senior Vice President, Investor Relations will anticipate and strategically address the needs and actions of the market and stay in front of the message. This function will collaborate cross-functionally within the organization, and specifically will partner with leaders across service lines, as well as finance, legal, operations and marketing teams.

The Senior Vice President, Investor Relations will have oversight for the holistic company-wide Investor Relations function and responsibility for helping to craft and manage the company's story to the external markets. To support Cushman and Wakefield's transformation agenda, the leader must have the appetite and aptitude to proactively handle the company's needs around communication of the company's strategy, both internal and external quarterly releases, shareholder road shows, and sophisticated investor targeting and penetration.

This executive will be expected to take a strategic, transparent, highly collaborative, and energetic approach toward the execution of the IR function. A "big picture" mentality is critical, coupled with the ability to make connections to company-level strategy and development. At the same time, this Head of Investor Relations must show a commitment to execution within a lean and fast-paced organization. This individual will need to be investor and market savvy, and "sharpen the message" to position where the company is now and where it is going. This individual will need to possess a strategic mindset, and his or her success will be measured in part by developing a metrics-driven approach toward gaining new shareholders from desired investor pools.
Job Description

Principal Responsibilities

  • Develop deep working relationships with the appropriate equity research analyst community and drive appropriate interaction and communication with all existing and potential shareholders. This executive will continuously monitor Cushman and Wakefield's shareholder base and develop strategic targeting initiatives to ensure an optimized ownership portfolio.
  • Develop and manage the company's messaging and participation on quarterly earnings calls, investment conference calls and in-house meetings, road shows, analyst days and one-on-one meetings.
  • Design, articulate, and implement the company's overall Investor Relations strategy, including creation/modification of the company's financial communications story, the external and internal messaging, scheduling of events (e.g., conferences, investor/ shareholders days, etc.), ensuring all communications are integrated and consistent.
  • Lead strategic communications development such as preparing presentation decks and creating management Q&A's and conference call scripts. Additionally, contribute to the creation of the annual report and earnings releases.
  • Liaise with senior leadership and other business managers to direct the positioning of the company's financial reporting messages, including the annual report, quarterly filings, and other shareholder materials.
  • Provide external audiences with an accurate and timely view of the company's performance and prospects. This will be accomplished through various avenues such as shareholder meetings, regular and ad-hoc meetings/conference calls with investors and analysts, website content and other electronic means, and other telephone and personal contacts.
  • Provide senior executives and board members at the company with accurate and timely updates of the company's positioning with analysts and key shareholders. This will be accomplished through various avenues such as live updates and executive committee and board meetings, periodic and consistent updates via e-mail as appropriate, and other day-to-day interactions.
  • Constantly gather intelligence and information in the marketplace, and inform, educate, and coach the company's senior leadership regarding the near-term and long-term dynamics of the investment and trading marketplaces, providing insight on the potential impact of these market forces on the company's business success.
  • Advise management on the potential impact of business initiatives on the market and shareholders, and how to communicate most effectively these to the investment community.
  • Present and articulate the investor point of view to the executive team and make recommendations as necessary and appropriate.
  • Lead and manage the Investor Relations portion of the company website.
  • Collaborate with colleagues throughout the company in establishing the strategy development, operating plan, budget, and the detailed execution of the IR operating plan.
  • Closely coordinate with internal and/or external public relations and communications professionals to support efficient and effective dissemination of the Company's strategy and message.
  • Measure the effectiveness of the company's investor relations program through the quality and accuracy of external analyst research and earnings estimates, increasing analyst coverage, the addition of new institutional owners, and growth in value relative to industry peers and relative to the market in general.
Required Experience and Knowledge

The successful candidate will be a positive, roll-up-the-sleeves self-starter with a servant-leader point of view, and deep financial, business and people management skills. This individual will have proven themselves as a positive influencer within an organization, able to brings teams along and inspire action through the establishment of common goals and vision. Furthermore, the Senior Vice President, Investor Relations will readily embrace technological advancements in digital communication and information sharing as part of the holistic IR platform.

The Senior Vice President, Investor Relations will have outstanding written and oral communication and interpersonal skills that will enable him or her to credibly serve as a primary representative for the organization. This individual must be engaging in personal style and confident in presentation ability but must also possess genuine active listening skills.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business Administration, Finance or Economics. MBA, CFA, or CPA is preferred.
Knowledge & Experience:
  • 15+ years' experience in a Corporate Investor Relations role or from equity research (buy-side or sell-side, FP&A, divisional finance, or corporate finance)
Skills & Personal Qualities:
  • Experience in a progressive and sophisticated organization, where investor relations is established as a key strategic partner to the business, is critical.
  • A financial skill-set developed through a career in investor relations, corporate finance roles, or banking/equity research. Experience at a reputable, well-regarded organization with strong core values is essential.
  • Strong financial acumen: ability to understand and interpret all of the company's key financial statements. She/he must have a clear and thorough understanding of financial modeling used by investment professionals to value the organization's performance.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and presentation abilities, including the ability to communicate complex ideas to large groups and very senior levels of management and members of the board of directors.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management, including executive management, to multi-task, and to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrate high confidence, but low ego at all times. View achievement of a job well-done by the team through collaboration as the highest form of success.
  • Ability to execute in ambiguous situations and take the lead without explicit instructions.
  • Ability to develop, synthesize and present perspectives on key strategic/financial issues.
