Staff in UITS at IU Columbus serve faculty, staff, and students by providing reliable, user-friendly technology, training, and support.
Job Summary
- Advises and assists system(s) users, explaining functionality and system processes; investigates, researches, interprets, responds to, and resolves difficult or complicated inquiries or escalates to appropriate technical team member(s).
- Provides technical assistance for production issues and enhancement/upgrade projects; assists in developing testing specifications and performs testing of bug fixes and system enhancements/upgrades.
- Responds to audit findings and performs necessary systems processes for verification and resolution.
- Assists with smaller projects for technology upgrades and implementations, including system setup and analysis.
- Serves as an escalation point for user support staff for system(s)-specific issues.
QualificationsCombinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
EDUCATION
Required- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required- 4 years of IT user support, systems support, or related experience.

- Possesses working knowledge of Windows Servers, Active Directory, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Proficient knowledge of VMWare virtualization.
- Possesses working knowledge of basic network and telephony analysis to support the growth and expansion of IU managed networks.
Working Conditions / DemandsThis position requires the ability to communicate effectively and to operate computers and other related technical equipment. The role is required to maintain and interact with computers and frequently move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation.
