Positions available at the Temporary Park Work IV level may include:
• Head Lifeguard - certification training provided (Chadron State Park, Eugene T. Mahoney State Park, Fort Robinson State Park, Louisville SRA, Niobrara State Park, Platte River State Park and Ponca State Park)

Examples of Work
Duties my vary from head lifeguard; supervisor of the swimming pool area; maintenance and clean up of pool and bathhouse.
Shooting range instructor; museum aide duties to assist with artifact collections and educate public about artifacts; lead educational programs and events, outdoor skills programs.
Coordinate volunteer to help with stations at large events and set up and take down equipment.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: At least six months experience working in a recreational area, scenic attraction, hospitality, historical, retail or customer service setting, agricultural setting, or related coursework/training.
OTHER: Some positions require Food Handler's Permit; Lifeguard Certificate or Water Safety Instructors Certificate; Range Safety Officer certification and a valid driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: history, animal husbandry, anthropology, wildlife, or recreation; the history, culture, and recreational use of the tourist attraction; safe work procedures related to assigned work; water safety protocols and principles; administration of first aid and CPR; record keeping methods; safe operation of firearms; practices and policies of firearms training and public shooting range operations.
Skill in: teaching and educating persons of all levels; communicating clearly with persons from a variety of backgrounds.
Ability to: meet and deal effectively with the public; understand and follow instructions; plan, assign and coordinate the work of others; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and administrative personnel; recognize safety hazards and take steps to correct the situation; apply agency policies pertinent to assigned work and direction of assigned crews.
Train assigned employees; plan, explain, and direct work assignments of a small group of employees engaged in the same work; resolve crew problems; learn and apply State laws and regulations pertaining to park operations; multi-task and prioritize responsibilities; bend, stoop, climb, reach frequently; work outdoors; remain standing and/or walking for long periods of time.
