The Transportation Planner will support and execute projects and plans for integrated, multimodal transportation systems that helps to ensure people and goods move safely and efficiently throughout communities and public spaces.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enterprising and innovative transportation planner with a design mindset who has strong analytical, communication skills and a passion for multimodal transportation solutions and is interesting in collaborating with our team of urban planners, landscape architects, traffic engineers and civil engineers. This position will take an active role in conducting planning and design required by federal, state or local government processes, data collection, visualization, and interpretation. The ideal candidate will maintain positive and constructive working relationships with internal and external customers. To thrive in this role, qualified individuals will need to be innovative, self-starters, embrace continuous process improvement and a strong commitment to advancing the concept of sensitive design in the transportation planning process.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, analyze, interpret, organize and present technical statistical data and related information pertaining to transportation planning programs
  • Prepare concise written reports, plans, correspondence and resolutions and implement decisions of transportation policy-making bodies
  • Prepare charts, maps and other graphic presentations
  • Participate in planning and execution of public engagement events
  • Prepare and implement project work plans and timelines for consultant selection and monitor contracts
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers, the public, including specific advocacy groups, and local, regional, State and Federal agency officials
  • Responsible for multimodal transportation planning, including statewide, metropolitan, and/or corridor planning
  • Support the development of innovative, accurate, timely, and high-quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff
  • Identify industry trends and work closely with senior leadership to position Barge for long-term growth
  • Focus on innovation in corridor planning; statewide and regional transportation planning; multimodal; resiliency and sustainability planning; diversity, equity, and inclusion; utilize travel demand modeling; and environmental planning related to transportation
  • Partner with business development and technical leadership to build relationships with federal, state, regional, and local planning clients, with an ability to work successfully across markets
    Perform all duties as assigned


Education & Experience Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's in Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering or Planning or preferably Master's degree in Planning related field
  • Link or attachment of portfolio is REQUIRED
  • AICP certification is preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of multi modal transportation planning with MPO's, DOT's and/or municipalities for corridor studies, systems plan, transit projects, and/or other related various regional/municipal/land use planning projects
  • Knowledge of the federal transportation planning and project development process and related funding programs
    Must possess excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Proficiency in transportation planning software, GIS tools and data analysis techniques required
  • Experience in graphic production in both 2D and 3D using Sketchup and the Adobe Creative suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) is desirable
