Position Overview

Novelis in Uhrichsville (formerly known as Aleris, IMCO Recycling, and Commonwealth Aluminum) is seeking a Maintenance Truck Shop Leader to develop and oversee strategic plans for our central maintenance team while managing break-down, corrective, and preventative maintenance to mobile equipment.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the equipment and facility operate safely by complying with EHS standards and policies, all state and federal regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and execute an overall maintenance strategy to deliver operational stability and maximize plant productivity, minimizing downtime in areas of accountability
  • Planning, scheduling, and executing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes accruing resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan.
  • Assess and direct maintenance efforts, focusing on improved reliability, quality, and reducing operating costs
  • Lead the efforts of root cause failure analysis with recommended solutions
  • Implement the necessary tools and systems to efficiently manage preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, spare parts inventory, and general work orders at the facility
  • Set and communicate clear performance standards; hold direct reports accountable for results
  • Continuously improve the efficient use of financial and human resources in the performance of duties.
  • Provide a climate of trust and employee engagement.
  • Develop the capabilities of maintenance employees through effective training, performance reviews, counseling, and providing opportunities to maximize potential
  • Engages team to drive a continuous improvement culture
  • Ensure compliance with the collective bargaining agreement
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent required; 7 to 10 years minimum heavy manufacturing experience. Experience in aluminum industry strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical and electrical industrial maintenance.
  • Excellent interpersonal, planning and organizing, time management, and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques is essential.
  • Ability to work with a long-term strategy along while managing short term objectives.
  • Ability to instill a sense of purpose and inspire actions in others.
  • Ability to assist team members through clear task assignment, feedback, and development planning.
  • Ability to bring together the appropriate people and information to make timely, effective decisions.
  • Ability to solve problems while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of the issues involved.
  • Ability to achieve results, manage multiple tasks and objectives in parallel and manage the technical and social issues associated with change.
Location Profile

Opened in 1985, Novelis in Uhrichsville employs more than 370 people, making us one of Tuscarawas County's largest employers. The facility produces rolled aluminum sheet for building and construction, transportation and consumer durable applications. Centrally located near Canton, Columbus, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland, the area is known for abundant outdoor activities with easy access to cultural centers and professional sport events.
