Department/Organization: 200019 - Capstone Center for Student Success

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; occasional afterhours for tutoring support.

Job Summary: The Tutoring Coordinator coordinates the delivery of tutoring programs for individuals and groups of students. Collaborates with campus partners and Capstone Center for Student Success (CCSS) colleagues to develop and implement a comprehensive array of tutorial and supplemental instruction programs and services to support academic success. Develops innovative and culturally relevant models for tutoring and new cross-campus partnerships in support of new tutoring-oriented initiatives.

Additional Department Summary: Works as a key member of the Capstone Center for Student Success team to plan, improve, and operationalize academic support programs and services for students. Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates peer tutors and peer educators. Collaborates with campus partners, Program Manager, Director, and Capstone Center for Student Success colleagues to develop and implement a comprehensive array of tutorial and supplemental instruction programs and services to support academic success. Manages and supervises student staff in the CCSS, as well as program delivery to enhance academic support and success of UA students under limited supervision. Develops technology-based tutoring opportunities to enhance and expand distance program offerings available to students. Participates in assessment efforts to identify programmatic needs and accountability for program success related to specified learning and operational outcomes. Develops and implements appropriate and effective marketing and communication strategies to promote programs, services, and activities to students served as well as campus-wide constituencies.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of academic advising or student success experience; OR master's degree and some academic advising or student success experience.

Skills and Knowledge: Experience in supervision, advising, coaching, or student development experience in higher education. Highly developed positive interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, attend to detail, work independently, and adhere to strict timelines. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in order to successfully perform essential tasks as well as manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Proficiency using technology with the ability to collect, analyze, interpret, disseminate and report data regarding program outcomes and services to internal and external constituents. Ability to collaborate with other units within Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to plan and implement programs to promote student success and enhance student retention. Must be able and willing to work and interact with undergraduate students, parents, faculty, staff, and administrators. Use of personal computers and standard application software (word processing, spreadsheet and/or database management programs). Good organizational, communication, public relations and management skills including budget management, planning, evaluation and assessment, marketing, and problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, college student personnel, or related area. Prior experience with the development, implementation and management of tutoring or peer leadership programs. Knowledge and understanding of best practices in student development, campus environments, community and student learning theories and their application in practice, and a tolerance for ambiguity.
