Position: Union - Underground Helper (UIE)(R-04317)

Responsibilities
- Cleaning splice chambers, shoveling snow, picking up tools, and cleaning up after jobs.
- Responsible for safe operations of motor vehicles, derrick, bucket trucks, pulling trucks and other heavy equipment and tools.
- Proper Handling and use of materials and equipment on jobs
- Majority of the work will be assigned but general responsibility for own work is required.
- Constant care necessary when driving trucks or operating equipment to avoid injuries to others.
- Possible exposure to accidents, hazards, partially incapacitating in nature in case of accident
- Majority of work to be performed in a confined space
Skills and Requirements
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age and a high school graduate or equivalent, preferably with additional technical training and mechanical aptitude.
- Must pass CAST Test
- Must have a valid drivers' license, with a safe driving record
- Must obtain and maintain respirator certification to perform job tasks
- Must be able to perform job duties in a confined space
- Must be able to refer to and interpret drawings, sketches, written instructions, and work orders
- Must be able to use measuring tools, mobile data terminal and testing instruments
- Must obtain and maintain valid Commercial Class "A" Driver's license
- Is subject to the Company's random drug and alcohol testing policy
- Must be capable of performing all the essential functions of the classification
- Perform a variety of basic duties in the electric system, mostly in helping to pull cable, wires, handling tools used on job, helping to make job site ready, including traffic control, and cleaning up after, cleaning out splice chambers, shoveling snow and other similar work assignments
- Some judgement is required to interpret and carry out instructions under minimum supervision
- Care and dependability to perform job duties efficiently
- Aware of day-to-day activity of Hazardous waste management system and oil spill cleanup procedures
- Requires Heavy lifting and ergonomic awareness (50lbs)
- Must be available for storm and emergency assignments and to work extended duration with short notice
- Ability to perform work in all types of weather (hot/cold) 24/7, 365 days.
- Must obtain and maintain First Aid & CPR Certifications
Qualifications
- Moderate physical demand: effort to drive vehicles, operate equipment, and to handle tools, materials and equipment varying in size and weight
- Continue mental and visual attention to carry out instructions, and perform duties efficiently
- Outdoor work in all kinds of weather
- Willingness to work overtime, to handle storm or emergency work
- Possible damage is moderate
