Overview
Gibbon Packing, LLC , an American Foods Group Company has opportunities for a Utilities Manager (Rendering and Wastewater) at our Gibbon, NE plant.

As a Utilities Manager (Rendering and Wastewater) you will:

  • Provide leadership and oversee the day-to-day utilities operations (leads and hourly production and maintenance employees) and ensure efficient and complaint processing of animal by-products and wastewater. Interface routinely with peers." Reports to Plant Engineer.
  • Ensure all rendering and wastewater processes run in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to maximize productivity, efficiency, and quality in the rendering process.
  • Monitor and maintain the performance of the rendering equipment, ensure optimal functionality, and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, laws, and industry standards related to rendering operations and the handling of animal by-products.
  • Be responsible for crewing, scheduling, work quality, productivity, and employee training in assigned areas.
  • Be responsible for safety and housekeeping and for proper operation of equipment.
  • Be accountable for ensuring that all health and safety policies and regulations are enforced, by reporting policy infractions to HR and being involved with taking appropriate disciplinary actions. Perform accident investigations.
  • Participate in plant management and operational meetings and conduct line meetings.
  • Conduct line meetings.
  • Update, maintain, and implement documents, records, or product specifications.
  • Conduct employment actions in accordance with EEO/AA guidelines (hire, selection, promotion, demotion, transfer, termination, etc.).
  • Evaluate department work performance and take corrective action. Take disciplinary or termination action in accordance with company standard practices and procedures.
  • Perform SQF checks for all areas to assure all assignments are being completed; constantly monitor all departments for cleanliness and ensure that product contamination is kept to a minimum.
  • Verify labor hours to ensure all department crewing and payroll report accuracy.
  • Use our timekeeping system reporting information to establish crewing shortages in departments.
  • Run report(s) and complete/distribute Supervisors reports.
  • Promote and drive succession development with areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure all Preventative Maintenance (PMs) and Work Orders are completed correctly and timely.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Current Level 1 Wastewater certification.
  • 3-5 years proven rendering and/or wastewater operations management experience in a beef kill/slaughter facility.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Post high school education, associate, or bachelor's degree.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Good computer skills: ability to use designated programs including Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Display a strong work ethic and a professional attitude"and appearance.
  • Must be assertive and be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform consistent, accurate work with minimal direction, and work successfully as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Develop and maintain effective employee relations.
  • Encourage professional team building.
  • Follow and enforce safety rules, housekeeping, and proper operation of equipment.
  • Follow and monitor proper safety equipment usage and safety practices.
