Position Summary

The colleague will act as the Operations Import / Export lead. Ensuring and maintaining current Customs compliance policies, procedures, and programs, in alignment with the Zoetis Global Trade Compliance policies and practices.

In addition, the colleague will manage and conduct purchasing routine raw materials or components to ensure manufacturing plans are achievable. Communicates directly with Global Procurement and Sourcing, vendors, production planners, manufacturing, warehousing, and quality assurance colleagues. Assists in the coordination of activities required for new product introductions and manufacturing material changes.

Position Responsibilities

Import / Export Responsibilities (50%)

  • Responsible and accountable for a wide range of tasks associated with the Import Entry process and recordkeeping requirements thereof from foreign export sites to U.S.
  • Responsible for the daily Import support tasks.
  • Monitoring daily inbound and outbound shipments and send import instructions to Brokers
  • Supports government communications to ensure speedy entry release from all government agencies.
  • Liaison with Operations Logistics to ensure inland carriers are secured for prompt freight pick-up and delivery.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues and liaison between manufacturing, research, and regulatory colleagues.
  • Accurate data entry & Ensure all records are maintained and archived correctly
  • Develop or revise SOPs immediately following changes as needed

Vendor Scheduling Responsibilities (50%)
  • Develops and prepares the short-range ordering plans of assigned materials, initiates and approves purchasing orders.
  • Reviews, monitors, and completes order follow ups to assures short range manufacturing plans are 100% achievable based upon the availability of approved materials.
  • Develops and prepares mid and long-range purchasing plans (6 to 24 months forecasted) to evaluate impacts of purchase prices variances, long range material requirements, and inventory models.
  • Manages inventories of purchased materials assuring levels are maintained within the site's objectives.
  • Assumes a leadership role in identifying and proposing the dispositional review of distressed inventories (e.g., damaged, slow moving, or obsolete inventories) for materials managed.
  • Through close interaction and communications with the Global Sourcing and suppliers, anticipate and communicates supply risks due to supplier quality, supplier capacity, supplier business changes, or other events which may impact the continuity of materials required to sustain the site's manufacturing requirements.
  • Acts as a liaison to ensure alignment between the manufacturing units, quality, and the vendor.
  • Partners with Manufacturing to ensure Bill of Materials are accurate.
  • Partners with finance and procurement colleagues to ensure accurate and timely billing is obtained from the site suppliers.
  • Assists in cost savings initiatives involving purchased materials.
  • Assists in the coordination and activities involved in new product introductions and manufacturing site transfer initiatives.
  • Utilization of Operational Excellence Methodologies to identify and improve vendor supply, inventory management, scrap, and overall cost.

Education and Experience
  • Preferred of bachelor's degree in Management, Business Administration, or related disciplines applicable to Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or Vaccine and Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Materials Management, and/or Marketing.
  • Multi-lingual preferred

Technical Skills and Competencies
  • Experience and knowledge of Global Trade Compliance and Customs policies.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of production, inventory and planning systems currently deployed in Zoetis including but not confined to SAP, Ariba, Lighthouse
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in utilizing analytical tools, spreadsheets, and databases to develop reports for strategic planning and communication.
  • Proven ability to lead, synchronize and motivate colleagues to meet short- and long-term objectives.
  • Ability to conceptualize, analyze and implement new methodologies in support of improving importation, compliance, inventory management, and business alignment.
  • Demonstrated ability to function and influence in a team matrix environment and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Right First Time and Lean Manufacturing concepts and principles preferred
  • APICS training preferred

Physical Position Requirements

The work conditions for the position are greater than 50% stationary with periodic standing and walking through out the workday(s). The colleague(s) may be required to travel and or work greater than 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays to support the business.
