Job Type: Full-time Permanent
Timeframe: 52 Weeks
Shift: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Regular Days Off: Saturday and Sunday (some nights and weekends required)
Supervision Received: The Video and Television Operations Production Technician reports directly to the Assistant Director, Coordinator of Video Production and Television Operations.
Supervision Exercised: The Video and Television Operations Production Technician will supervise student employees as assigned.

Salary: $60,000.00 to $65,000.00 (Salary commensurate with education and experience)

General Statement of Duties: The Video and Television Operations Production Technician is responsible for assisting the Assistant Director with television operations for the Department of Communication and other University departments and all related video production for Westfield State University.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but not limited to:
Essential:
  • Manage daily operations of the Westfield State University television studio, digital video editing facilities, digital audio labs and other production facilities as they pertain to teaching and the Department of Communication. Prepare production facilities for instructional use and assist faculty with their production classes.
  • Assist the Assistant Director and Chair of the Department of Communication with the Westfield State University television studio and remote field production equipment needs (including the circulation of digital camcorders, digital photo cameras, tape recorders, lighting equipment, etc.).
  • Maintain inventory of equipment, computers, supplies and software and coordinate equipment repairs.
  • Supervise students in department production labs.
  • Assist in video production for the University community and all other campus contingencies including the President's office, Board of Trustees, Department of Communication, Admissions, and Public Affairs.
  • Edit video footage and programs as directed by the Assistant Director.
  • Coordinate and or operate equipment for live video streaming events.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to use non-linear video editing software (i.e., Adobe Premiere).
  • Demonstrated ability and familiarity with Video production equipment: Cameras, lights, microphones, soundboards, etc.
  • Familiarity with various live video streaming platforms.
  • Experience in a television studio environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail/accuracy.
  • The ability to work with a variety of people in a positive, congenial, and professional manner.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to meet expectations for weekend and evening commitments (i.e., recordings, events, commencement, and meetings).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communication or related field.

Salary:

Salaries for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining agreements as well as state policies.
