Key Accountabilities

  • Weld in flat, vertical, or overhead positions that may involve heights.
  • Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
  • Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
  • Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment. Gas tungsten arc welding is a plus
  • Read technical drawings in both 2D and 3D versions.
  • Read and follow written and verbal instructions.
Requirements
  • Possess exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist at the waist
  • Able to climb stairs and ladders
  • Must be flexible on work hours and shifts
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Mechanical capability required
  • Strong knowledge of the importance of safety, and place it in the highest regard
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Strong focus on completing tasks in order of priority.
  • Strong focus on housekeeping and shop cleanliness.

Work Environment - Work is executed in a repair facility environment that is not climate controlled. Noise levels may reach decibels requiring hearing protection.

Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years welding and fabrication experience
  • Knowledge of MIG and Stick, preference for TIG (GTAW)
  • Knowledge of fabrication in a shop environment

Welding schools / training / certification
